Vroom, Vroom – Sunday, July 26th
Today was the day we were supposed to visit Henry’s friend, Flavia in Omaha, Nebraska (approximately 615 miles away). Being true to ourselves and knowing how slow we’ve been progressing, we again brainstormed with reality and rescheduled with Flavia for Monday. It was a good decision; the haste and rush was getting on both our nerves.
Since we were taking our time and we happened to be in Indianapolis for the NASCAR Allstate 400 at The Brickyard, we had to drive by their motorway and take a peek. Thankfully, a friendly soul who was putting up his front lawn for public parking directed us towards 16th St. where one could drive by the main gate of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for more than a peek. That was pretty exciting.
The sights and sounds of the lightning speed stock cars were just awesome, especially when they turned a corner. It is definitely vastly different from listening to the background buzz during a televised race. After rubbernecking at the race for a good while and taking multiple photos and videos, we decided to finally head out. It was already around 3pm by then. Thankfully, we had crossed the central time zone and gained another hour on the clock.
