Delicious! Freshly squeezed juice and pastries in Istanbul
Fresh squeezed orange and pomegranate juices in Istanbul are very cheap. We found this place near our hotel where orange juice was $0.7 USD and pomegranate was $1. Another nearby pastry store sells freshly baked Turkish borek for 35 cents.
When served fresh, these boreks rival the best croissants served in Paris! The flaky, buttery layers filled with rich cheese and spinach literally melt in your mouth, making it the absolute perfect, quick bite before a long day of sightseeing. Pairing that warm pastry with the tart, refreshing kick of the cold pomegranate juice was an absolute revelation.
This was what we ate and drank every morning. Five days straight! It just goes to show that sometimes the simplest, cheapest local street foods end up being the most memorable parts of a trip.
